This Officer Prays at a School Flagpole Each Day
It takes a special kind of person to serve as a school resource officer – one who’s responsible for safety and crime prevention in schools.
Then there’s DeAndra Warren.
He’s worked for the Wynne Police Department (Ark.) for the past seven years, while also serving as the Wynne Public Schools’ resource officer.
And he’s been doing something for the past five years that recently caught the eye of others.
Warren prays every day next to the United States flagpole.
Often you don’t see an officer on school grounds at the flag pole praying for our children! I know this amazing Man of…
“I’d be on my patrol and just pray as I walk up and down the halls,” Warren told ABC News. “One moment I just felt the urge to stop at the [flagpole] and start praying at the pole because of what it represents and with so many things that are going on in our nation.”
Warren’s poignant act was shared on social media by his daughter, De’Andria Warren.
“Often you don’t see an officer on school grounds at the flag pole praying for our children!,” she wrote. “I know this amazing Man of God who prays for our school systems, your children, and our community every day faithfully! This outstanding man is my dad and I’m so proud to be his daughter!”
De’Andria’s post is accompanied by a photo of her father seen bowing his head in prayer next to the school flagpole.
Officer Warren told ABC News he began praying there in 2015.
“Chronicles 7:14 says: If my people, which are called by name, humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will heal their land,” Officer Warren told ABC News.
Carl Easley, school superintendent, told ABC News that Officer Warren oversees 600 kids on two school campuses in this city of 8,300.
Officer Warren is often spotted high-fiving and fist-bumping students throughout the school day.
“There’s not too many people out here in this world like him!,” De’Andria wrote. “Officer Warren we are so thankful for you!”
