‘Man of God’ Headbands Raise $120,000 and Counting
An NFL player fined for wearing a faith-based headband – who then started selling it for charity – has raised over $120,000.
“This is amazing, it just shows you the power of God,” New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis said on Fox Nation’s “Laura and Raymond.” “You know, I would have never thought this whole movement would have happened – and it’s not just here in New Orleans. It’s been national.”
Last month, Davis was fined $7,017 by the NFL for wearing a large headband with the words “Man of God” on it, which constituted a uniform violation.
Been thinking a lot about the #ManOfGod headbands and how they've impacted so many and I've officially decided to make this year about giving back. Really I just wanna be the change I want to see in the world. I hope ya'll are ready because I'm going to need your help too!! pic.twitter.com/BZXZqyEWyS

Davis, a devout Christian, swore to keep wearing the headband despite the fine. The announcement of the fine upset fans, who offered an outpouring of support via social media. Davis began selling the headband with 100 percent of proceeds going to St. Dominic Hospital in his hometown of Jackson, Miss. Later, Davis appealed his fine and won.
So far the “Man of God” and “Woman of God” headbands – priced at $25 each – have raised over $120,000 for the hospital.
Because of the headbands’ success, Davis took to Twitter yesterday to reiterate he’s even more committed to giving back to others.
“Been thinking a lot about the #ManOfGod headbands and how they’ve impacted so many and I’ve officially decided to make this year about giving back. Really I just wanna be the change I want to see in the world. I hope ya’ll are ready because I’m going to need your help too!!” Davis wrote.
Davis is a devout Christian and one of the more vocal NFL players about his faith.
During the Fox segment, he insisted he holds no grudges toward the NFL regarding the fine and that his purpose is to “glorify God” in all he does.
