12 Good Samaritans Lift SUV Off Pinned Woman
Twelve strangers lifted a large SUV off a trapped woman in New York City on Sunday.
Though the victim, who only wanted to be identified as Veronika, has suffered a concussion and heavy bruising, she praised the heroic act of goodwill from fellow Americans.
“My main reaction is that I am just unbelievably grateful for everyone who came straight away and helped,” she told CBS2 in New York. “They are really the reason I am okay.”

It was a frantic scene on Manhattan’s Lower East Side as one onlooker recorded the frightening event by phone and made it available to CBS2.
The victim was crossing the street when a black SUV hit her, then rolled onto her legs, which were pinned under the tires.
Onlookers rushed to assist, trying desperately to lift the vehicle. They managed to tilt it on one side enough to free her.
“A couple seconds later, I was under a car and I was just like ‘Get me out, get me out,’” Veronika told CBS2.
The Good Samaritans who rushed out of nowhere is a classic example of Americans helping one another.
“I think that it’s a miracle. It’s incredible,” Veronika told CBS2.
The victim suffered no broken bones, though she remains bruised and shocked at the ordeal.
“I think I was really under shock. I didn’t think I had any emotion apart from being scared, obviously,” she said.
Police told CBS2 that the SUV’s driver, a 65-year-old woman, was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian.
